WILSDEN Parish Council have agreed to work with Bradford Council to draw up an emergency flood plan for the village.

The working group will be set up at the council’s February meeting with the hope of finishing the plan within three months.

The decision was made after Chris Slaven, Bradford’s emergency flood planning officer, addressed the council and gave them a detailed plan for them to fill in.

He said that once the plan was completed, training would be given to the appointed team. They would be supplied with radios, sacks and hi-visibility jackets.

Mr Slaven suggested the items should be stored in a cabinet along with a ‘grab bag’ and a modest amount of cash.

At the January meeting of Wilsden Parish Council, members recruited parish clerk Gail Denham to join three councillors on a working group discussing changes to the format of the Wilsdener residents’ newsletter.
