National League Two North: Otley 27 Caldy 52

With 15 minutes remaining, Otley looked on the verge of an upset having, through excellent football, turned a half-time 14-point deficit into an admittedly small three-point lead.

But Caldy had other ideas, turning on the power to score four converted tries in the final nine minutes to demonstrate why they are top of the table.

Otley were first to strike, a penalty into the corner setting them up.

A well co-ordinated drive took them to the line and a swift pass to Mike Coady put the centre over, scrum half Max Johnson converting with usual kicker Tom Hodson on the injury list and his replacement Ben Fairclough joining him during the build-up.

A disturbed Caldy took just a couple of minutes to reply, with No 8 Joshua  Dickinson grabbing a brace of tries in quick time, the second being converted by centre Jack Lavin.

After Johnson had landed a penalty, Caldy added tries through prop John Parker and hooker Oliver Hearn, Lavin converting the latter for a 24-10 half-time lead.

Caldy were unprepared for Otley’s resurgent start after the break.

Finding holes in the visitors' defence, lock Simon Willet was driven over and, when a final pass missed its mark with the line open, play was brought back for a scrum following a knock on.

Otley won that and the ball out for winger Alex Beaumont to crash over and, once again from a drive, hooker Luke Chadwick grounded, Johnson converting.

But inside those final nine minutes, Caldy ran in four converted tries - two from centre Forbes Edwards and one each from flanker Harrison Crowe and Lavin.
