A COMMUNITY singing group is seeking a new volunteer leader.

Singing for Pleasure was formed more than three years ago and meets weekly, in Laycock and Braithwaite.

The popular group has about 30 members.

But keyboard player and leader Tom Smith, from Laycock, has had to step down for health reasons.

And a search has begun for a replacement.

"The group is devoted to the enjoyment of singing," said spokesman Lynne Hibberd.

"We perform an eclectic assortment of material, ranging from songs from the musicals, through popular songs of the 20th century to more contemporary numbers.

"The wider community is invited to join the group for 'singalongs' at Christmas and in the summer – these events are always well attended and appreciated, both by members and enthusiastic participants from near and far.

"Tom's replacement will be invited to retain the group's current ethos and dynamic. The person would need keyboard skills and be able to empathise with our wish simply to enjoy singing."

The group meets at 7.30pm on Fridays during term time, at either Laycock Village Hall or Keighley New Church hall in Braithwaite Village.

Anyone interested in the leader role should contact Pat Reynard on 01535 661728.
