KEIGHLEY people are invited to attend a special ceremony to remember victims and survivors of the holocaust and other genocides.

The event – organised by Bradford Council to mark Holocaust Memorial Day – takes place at City Hall on Friday (Jan 27), at 11am.

More than 100 representatives of communities across the district will be in attendance.

Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Geoff Reid, will lead the lighting of candles.

There'll also be speeches, music and singing.

"We must never forget the depth of suffering caused by genocide and it is important we are aware of how it develops so that we can do everything possible to prevent it ever happening again," said Councillor Reid.
