RESEARCH revealing that only a quarter of people in Yorkshire drink enough water each day has prompted Yorkshire Water to spread the healthy drinking message to Keighley district.
Public health guidelines from The European Food Safety Authority state women should drink 1.6 litres of fluid per day and men two litres to maintain a healthy body and mind. This equates to around six to eight glasses per day.
But a survey of 1,000 people in Yorkshire shows that just 25 per cent of people drink the recommended daily amount as pure water. More than 40 per cent typically drink less than two glasses of water per day.
To encourage people to drink more water, Yorkshire Water is handing out free bottles of water to commuters at Leeds Railway Station on Thursday. (Jan 26)
The firm’s new campaign includes a video, declaring Yorkshire the "best place on earth" and that its water makes the world’s best rhubarb and gravy!
The video, called "Course it’s Better", can be viewed at http://ow.ly/uJck3082M2t
It is also on the company’s Facebook page and those who ‘Like’ the video will be entered into a prize draw.
