TWO Keighley-district groups have received a lottery boost.

Haworth Riding for the Disabled (RDA) has been awarded £10,000 to recruit a volunteer co-ordinator.

And Home-Start Craven was given £9,450 to fund cooking workshops.

The groups are among 13 across the Bradford district together sharing a £440,000-plus pot in the latest round of Big Lottery Fund grants.

Haworth RDA, based at Vale Mill Lane stables, said it was delighted with its award.

Part-time volunteer co-ordinator, Leonie Bradwell, has just begun work with the charity.

"We have 50 registered volunteers on our books and we're so pleased that we now have a dedicated person they can turn to," said Jane Lawrence, for Haworth RDA.

"Leonie will not only oversee retaining and recruiting volunteers, but also the comprehensive training programme.

"We haven't had a volunteer co-ordinator for a few years so it's great to welcome Leonie.

"We're always looking for more voluntary helpers.

"Incorporating as many activities as we can is great, but that requires extra help."
