A TROUPE of actors have put their thespian talents to good use by delivering the road safety message to younger pupils at a Keighley secondary school.

The group from "PiE" – Performance in Education – entertained and educated year seven children at Holy Family Catholic School.

These actors have been putting on shows based on all the big questions which teenagers have to address, including road safety, arson and the dangers of drug misuse.

James Moreland, progress leader for year seven at Holy Family, opted for the children to receive a performance of a road safety show called Streetwise.

He explained: “Year seven are very much a cohort in transition as they leave primary school and develop independence.

"A significant proportion will be coming to school unaccompanied for the first time, and they are all at different stages in recognising and dealing with the dangers.

"Bringing PiE into school at this point gives us some common ground from which to move ahead.”

The show, which was funded by Safer Roads West Yorkshire, focused on how to stay safe as a pedestrian, using a light-hearted performance to get across a serious message.
