A STEETON company has climbed on board to save a threatened bus service.

Award-winning Acorn Stairlifts is sponsoring the Dales Bus 856.

The service, which covers a 40-mile route between Northallerton and Hawes in North Yorkshire on Sundays and Bank Holidays, faced the axe due to lack of funding.

But following the Station Road firm’s intervention, the future of the service – renamed the Acorn Wensleydale Flyer – is secure for at least another year.

And to celebrate, a specially-commissioned film has been produced and uploaded to YouTube.

The footage – shot by Good Call Media – includes interviews with passengers and Sir Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire.
