GROOVY Happening will reach its platinum anniversary on Saturday, March 4.

That’s when the monthly music night celebrates its 70th appearance with another gig at the Parkside Club in Haworth.

Singer-songwriter Luke Parker is back to share the bill with ‘new to Groovy’ acts Wine Stoned Cowboys, The End and Alan Eaton.

Luke, a member of well-known local band Foxes Faux and Box Jellys, will sing and play guitar.

Groovy spokesman Ann Wiles said: “He is normally behind a drum kit playing in one of his bands or working the sound desk at Groovy Happening, so this will be something special!”

The Wine Stoned Cowboys promise ‘new country from the old county’, playing country blues rock with members from across the state of West Yorkshire.

There’s Boozey Hawkes on vocals, lead guitar and harmonica, Texas T on righteous rhythm guitar, ace of bass General Lee, and on vocals and drums, Mr Randy Longhorn.

Ann said: “They play a unique blend of traditional and contemporary styles, all-original material that is always guaranteed to get the crowd up on their feet.

“The band will saddle up for their first visit to Haworth, home village of one of the members, and also their first gig of the New Year after dodging the law over the winter months.”

The End is a trio based in West Yorkshire, with seasoned local musicians Frank Farkas (bass and vocals), Kev Garside (guitar and vocals), and Garry Fowlds (drums and vocals), playing melodic rock and power pop blues covers.

Ann said local singer-songwriter and acoustic guitar player Alan Eaton wrote songs about imagined scenarios.

She added: “Personal thoughts and feelings are expressed indirectly leaving the listener to draw their own conclusions.”

As usual, the Groovy Happening will have a disco and raffle, with proceeds going to Manorlands. Tickets £3 on the door, from 7.30pm.
