ORGANISATIONS interested in a new grant scheme launched by Keighley Town Council to replace funding axed in district council spending cuts have until April 2 to apply.
The town council has revealed details of how to apply for its Community Development Grants, which were agreed by local councillors at their 2017/18 budget meeting in January.
The council has made a total of £100,000 available for this scheme.
It plugs a gap left by Bradford Council cutbacks, which had removed the money previously being provided to pay for three Keighley community workers.
A statement released last Friday (Feb 24) from Keighley Town Council's clerk said: "The town council agreed the framework and grant application process for awarding the Community Development grants at an extraordinary meeting held on February 22.
"Interested organisations who wish to be funded by Keighley Town Council from May 2 2017 to March 31 2018 to deliver community development work in Keighley, will need to complete a Community Development Expressions of Interest Form in order to be considered.
"These forms will be available to download from the town council website from March 1 2017.
"The deadline for the submission for all forms is Sunday April 2 2017.
"The town council has appointed a Community Development Committee, which will be responsible for recommending the award of the grants to full council.
"It is also tasked with monitoring the delivery of community development work."
