HILARITY, drama and lots of glitz is promised as the musical La Cage Aux Folles comes to Leeds.

The glittering show stars musicals maestro John Partridge, 80s TV heartthrob Adrian Zmed and West End legend Marti Webb.

Georges is the manager of a Saint Tropez nightclub. His partner Albin is a drag artiste and the club’s star attraction.

They live an idyllic existence in the south of France until Georges’ son Jean-Michel announces his engagement to the daughter of a notorious right-wing politician, who wants to close down the colourful local night-life.

Comedy and drama follows a meeting of parents, which forces Georges and Albin to cover up their vibrant lifestyle. Can Albin play the role of his life to ensure Jean Michel can marry his love?

La Cage Aux Folles, which is touring the UK for the first time, will be at the Grand from March 20 to 25.

It is described as a lavishly funny tale of unconditional love and family values that, in the words of its iconic song, invites the audience to celebrate that life’s not worth a damn ‘till you can say I am what I am’.

John Partridge, who played Christian Clarke in Eastenders, plays Albin after West End and touring roles in A Chorus Line, Cats, Starlight Express and Chicago.

Adrian Zmed starred with William Shatner as Officer Vince Romano in the 80s TV cop show T J Hooker, as well as appearing in the cult movie Grease 2.

Marti Webb has starred in high-profile musicals for several decades, including Evita, Godspell, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Blood Brothers, Oliver! and Oklahoma!
