ABIGAIL Nelson is stepping back into the limelight with her band Siren And Strings.

Abigail, who had open heart surgery last summer, will perform with the band at the Golden Fleece in Oakworth.

The free March 11 concert – which features an “amazing” saxophone player – includes two sets between 8.45pm and 11.30pm.

Siren And Strings are appearing at the pub for the first time, after performing across Yorkshire during the past few years.

A spokesman said: “This will be the first full gig they have done since Abigail’s surgery last year, after doing a couple of shorter gigs in December and January.

“Siren And Strings are an acoustic covers band performing an eclectic selection of songs, creating a beautiful laid-back chill, with a unique edge of passion and spirit.

“They offer Neill’s superb guitar playing and vocal harmonies, Abigail’s distinctive emotion-loaded vocals, Ian’s outstanding sax and clarinet skills and Jose’s amazing ability to produce incredible percussion out of two cajons and assorted jingly things.

“These talents combine to create something different, fresh and engaging. Their takes on well-known tracks reveal that simplicity can be stunning – and prove that a really good song will shine even when stripped back to basics.”

Across the other side of Keighley, in Bradford Road, Sandbeds, the Octagon is preparing to welcome another tribute act.

Mark Summers will return to the venue by popular demand to perform as Young Elvis on March 17.

Mark has featured in the USA on Fox News, and in the UK the Stage newspaper said his “voice, movement, sexy performance and animal like grace” drew a sharp intake of breath from many in the audience.

The show will portray Elvis Presley from his Sun Record years, through his cinema appearances to his renowned arena shows.
