FARSLEY Celtic chief executive Josh Greaves jetted back from a short break in Dubai to see his club still battling for the one automatic promotion place in Division One North of the Evo-Stik League and with a final at Valley Parade to look forward to.

The Celts reached the West Riding County FA Cup showpiece at neighbours Bradford City's ground after knocking out holders Bradford Park Avenue in an away semi-final.

Greaves, who has been with the club since his teens and has risen up the administrative ladder, is delighted with Farsley's progress and feels it has been helped, rather than hindered, by having two experienced men (Neil Parsley and John Deacey) at the helm on the playing side.

"We have a thriving youth section, our development teams are doing well, our women's teams are doing well and our first team – well, what can I say?" said Greaves.

"We're nine points off top spot in our league with three games in hand and we're in the final of the County Cup. People still ask me 'does the whole joint-manager thing work?' and I just think, look at our results.

"From Farsley Celtic's perspective, joint-managers absolutely do work. It's fantastic for us and I think that we're very lucky to have that experience in our dugout. Both Neil and John have a wealth of knowledge about the game.

"They do a lot of sums and they set little targets for the team. They break the season down into little pieces and I think that helps the playing squad keep their focus.

"Neil and John are also out working any time we don't have a training session or a game. They both have an eye for potential and can spot a player.

"They also have a way of sizing up the next opposition and adapting their tactics to suit that particular game. I'm sure we'll go a long way if we can keep them both and the squad they've built.

"The club is going in the right direction on all fronts and it's a marvellous place to be around."

The club might be going places but not quite as far as their chief executive after his excursion to the Middle East. Greaves explained: "I went out to see a mate who lives there and it's the first time I've been.

"It's rare that I get enough time off and I certainly couldn't afford it if I didn't know someone to stay with. Put it this way, I haven't neglected my club duties or my day job and it was a very nice break – but I'm raring to go again with everything Farsley."
