A SCHEME to help combat inactivity in Keighley was outlined to members of Keighley Town Council.
Karla Burton, of Bradford Disability Sports and Leisure, presented the Go Out and Get Active (GOGA) programme at the town council's meeting last night. (March 16)
She asked the council to support and promote the programme, which is designed to help disabled and non-disabled people enjoy being active together.
Bradford Disability Sports and Leisure has been chosen as one of 18 locations to deliver the GOGA scheme for the next three years.
It will particularly target four groups identified as not getting enough exercise, including women and girls, older people, disabled people and the black and minority ethnic community.
Ms Burton explained that the £300,000 project would work with and assist existing local community groups, helping within areas such as coaching, equipment, venues, training and volunteer support.
She added that there would be at least two inclusive programmes each year in Keighley to encourage more active lifestyles.
