Parkside students the best behaved in the Arctic!

A couple on the same plane have written to the Cullingworth school to praise the behaviour of the 38 geography students.

The year 10 and 12 students were the first from the school to travel to Iceland when they spent four days on the Arctic country.

During the trip the youngsters were able to visit some of the best sites Iceland had to offer, along with experiencing the wonder of the Blue Lagoon.

Geography teacher Liam Radcliffe said: “The students were an absolute credit to themselves, their families and the school.

“Even Jordan Pullen, who broke his arm, made the most of this once in a lifetime experience.”

Craig and Julie Harris first encountered the Parkside group at Stansted airport on the way out, and later felt compelled to write to head Andy Taylor.

Mr Harris wrote: “We first noticed your pupils at Stansted airport in their school sweatshirts and we both commented how smart they all looked.

“We then also said ‘we hope that they are well behaved’ as it was nearly a plane full. We boarded and the pupils followed very politely after and they were perfect all flight.

“We then thought that it would be the end of Parkside School this holiday, but we must have followed your school party around Iceland!

“Everywhere we went we commented on their brilliant behaviour, it was lovely to see children and staff interact so well.”

After an enjoyable few days in Iceland, Mr and Mrs Harris returned to the airport, only to find the Parkside group again on the same plane.

Mr Harris wrote: “We thought that they may not be so well-behaved on the way home as they will be tired and hungry – as we found out from Charli and Annalise, there was only salad to eat!

“But happily they were still on their best behaviour, even when the Northern Lights were spotted from the plane.”

Mr Harris ended by saying the Parkside pupils and staff were a credit to both themselves and the school, adding: “They certainly put a smile on our faces.”
