A MAN who brandished a knife during a daytime assault in Keighley will be sentenced next month.

Phillip Silson, 45, was arrested following the incident at the Alston Retail Park on February 15.

His victim, a man in his 20s, suffered bruising to his head and was treated at the scene.

Police said Silson was arrested in Russell Street shortly after the altercation, which took place at about 4pm.

Appearing at Bradford Crown Court, Silson, of Lister Street, Keighley, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray, making threats with a bladed article, and damage to property.

The court heard that Silson suffered from mental health issues, and was undergoing weekly sessions with a community psychiatric nurse.

The Recorder of Bradford, Judge Roger Thomas QC, ordered a full report ahead of a sentencing hearing on April 28.
