A BABY was treated for smoke inhalation after a tumble dryer fire at a house in Wilsden.

Crews from Fairweather Green and Shipley fire stations were called to a property in Main Street at about 6.25pm on Sunday.

The fire was in the cellar of the property, said a spokesman for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service took the baby and its parents to hospital for precautionary check-ups due to smoke inhalation.

The fire service spokesman could not say what make of tumble dryer was involved, but advised anyone with concerns about their appliance to visit electricalsafetyfirst.org.uk for tips and advice.

The website has information on product recalls and has a section on tumble dryers which includes safe maintenance and use.

Tips include cleaning fluff from the filter and around the door after every use, and not stopping the dryer before the end of its cycle.

The fire service spokesman also said that there were no working smoke detectors in the property in Wilsden.
