CAMPAIGNERS staging a protest march against the planned development of a waste to energy incinerator in Keighley have confirmed a change for the final part of the event.

Aire Valley Against Incineration (AVAI) which is opposing the scheme meant for land next to the Aire Valley bypass, at Marley, has organised the demonstration for this Saturday (March 25).

It was due to end with a rally at Town Hall Square, but instead the rally will be held at Church Green.

Other previously reported details for the starting point and route have not altered.

People are invited to gather at East Morton Recreation Ground at 12:30pm on Saturday for a 1pm start.

The route will take marchers along Carr Lane, down Swine Lane, onto Bradford Road towards Keighley.

At the roundabout near Alston Retail Park they will go through the subway and into Victoria Park. From there, they will march into Keighley town centre, finishing with the rally in Church Green.

People who do not want to walk the full distance, are free to join in anywhere along the route.

Stewards will be on hand at Victoria Park from 1.30pm to greet people who want to join in at this point.
