A KEIGHLEY school is toasting its success in a new measure for school performance released by the Department for Education this month. (March)
University Academy Keighley (UAK) is hailing its positive showing in the measure, which is called the Progress 8 Score.
The school has received a score of + 0.02, which compares favourably with a regional average Progress 8 Score of - 0.15.
This new way in which schools are measured, records the progress every student makes from the end of primary school to the end of secondary school. UAK says it welcomes this method, arguing that it is a fairer measure of a student’s achievement and recognises their starting point when tracking progress.
Principal Bernie Addison said: "We are delighted with the improvements that have been made at the academy, and congratulate all our school community who have worked hard to achieve this wonderful success.
"We are very fortunate to have very good support from our families and our sponsors, the University of Bradford and Bradford Council.
"Together we aim to inspire our students to enjoy learning so that they develop into inquisitive, resilient and successful young people."
