SHIVER me timbers!

Pupils from Cullingworth Primary School took part in an interactive pirate story during a visit to the village's Hewenden Ridge housing scheme.

David Wilson Homes had invited the year-four youngsters to its development for an afternoon of storytelling to celebrate World Book Day.

The session was led by professional storyteller, Eden Ballantyne.

Year-four teacher, Stephen Singh, said: "I am always keen on excursions that allow the children to spend some time outside school – and they were very excited to be going to Hewenden Ridge.

"Eden's pirate tale was fantastic and it was great to see the class get so involved. It's definitely something we'd like to do again!"

Dan Hardcastle, sales manager at Hewenden Ridge, said the firm was delighted to welcome the children.

"We always want to invest into the areas where we build so it is important for us to get involved with local schools as an extension of the community," he added.
