SILSDEN has chosen its new gala royalty.
Silsden Gala Committee invited children of the town to apply to become king, queen, or rosebud.
The selection event at St John’s Church, Hall on Saturday morning included a free session of Mother’s Day card making, jewellery making and canvas painting.
The judges, Sara Reece, Claire Smith and Silsden town Mayor Peter Robinson, had the difficult job of making the selection.
The successful candidates were Charlie Clarkson, age 7 (king), Maisie Manley, seven (queen) and Mia Bates, five (rosebud).
Crumbs cafe donated cakes, Craven Mobile Disco provided music, and Silsden businesses donated items for the raffle.
Silsden Gala last year returned to its former glory following a disappointing 2015 event caused by bad weather.
The entire community came together, with floats, marching bands and community groups such as the Scouts, sports teams, majorettes and other organisations entertaining the crowds in the procession.
Later in the park there were attractions including birds of prey, bands, tractor displays, fancy dress, stalls, cakes and funfair rides.
