A COFFEE morning is being held at Steeton to raise funds for a children's hospice.

The Easter-themed event – on Saturday, April 8 – is the latest in a series staged by villager Lynda Corser, her family and friends.

Proceeds go to Martin House at Boston Spa in tribute to the care received there by Mrs Corser’s late nephew, Andrew Pratt, who died in 1998 at the age of 12.

April 10 will mark the 19th anniversary of his death.

The coffee morning – at St Stephen’s Church hall, from 10am to noon – will include refreshments, cakes, crafts, a tombola, raffle and Easter egg game.

Easter eggs have been donated by local stores.

Admission is free.

"The event began on a small scale in our house at least 16 years ago and has just grown and grown," said Mrs Corser.

"The support we receive is fantastic and everyone is welcome to come along."
