GLUSBURN parents have been warned to steer clear of a local nursing home while taking their children to and from school.
Richard Hunt, head of Glusburn Community Primary School, contacted parents after talking with staff at the nearby Beanlands home.
He said: “I was notified that the parking situation during drop-off and collection is increasingly causing disruption. Please can all parents park considerably.”
Beanlands revealed that on one occasion three cars parked alongside one another, totally blocking an entrance to the home.
A Beanlands staff member said: “It is the only entrance which can be used for the fire service, who, if the alarm is raised, have to send three fire engines. They clearly wouldn’t be able to enter the site, putting the lives of over 100 people at risk.”
Beanlands was established as a nursing home in 1974, and for the past 14 years has been run by the Czajka Care Group in 2003. It is registered to provide nursing care for up to 45 older people.
