PARKSIDE netball girls beat three out of four competitor schools in a district-wide contest.

The year eight students were victorious against Beckfoot Oakbank, Beckfoot and Ilkley Grammar School in the Bradford Schools Netball Tournament.

The Parkside girls lost only to Bradford Girls Grammar School, and had a semi-final match against Skipton Girls High School.

The Parkside girls were dubbed “superb” by staff for playing a closely-matched game where Skipton just edged ahead to win before the final whistle.

Parkside’s year nine team played in the tournament, also beating Beckfoot Oakbank, Ilkley Grammar School and Beckfoot and losing to Bradford Girls.

Helen Mayho, Parkside’s assistant head of PE, said: “This meant that we finished as runners-up in our section and progressed to the semi-final.

“This was an exciting match, but unfortunately we were knocked out as we lost by one goal!

“Everyone tried so hard and worked superbly as a team, as they have done all season. Well done to all our girls!”
