A GOLDEN couple have given a boost to Manorlands.

Ted and Denise McNulty had a party to celebrate 50 years of marriage and asked for donations in lieu of presents.

Hundreds of friends and family gathered for the event – at the Octagon, Sandbeds – and £2,082 was raised for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

The couple chose to support Manorlands because Mr McNulty is currently receiving care from its community nurse specialist team.

"It was a marvellous turnout and we'd like to thank everyone who contributed to this amount– including Keighley Liberal Club for a donation," said Mr McNulty.

"Everybody's support really is very much appreciated and means a great deal to us.

"We must also thank our family – which helped us organise the party – and the entertainers, who did a superb job."

Hayley Ibbotson, senior community fundraiser at Manorlands, pays tribute to the couple.

"This is an incredibly kind donation and we really are grateful to Ted and Denise for using their golden wedding celebrations to raise funds for us," she said.

"We rely heavily on voluntary donations to ensure our services can continue.

"I wish them both a very happy 50th anniversary and thank them for their support."
