SOUTH Craven young people could see their writing and artwork published.

They are being urged to put pen to paper in a zine-making competition.

The initiative is open to anyone aged 13-24 who lives or is educated in Craven.

Behind the venture are Skipton Library's Reading Hack young volunteers and members of Team Ketchup, a children's comic collective based at the library.

Support is being provided by the Reading Agency.

Zines can be in the form of a comic, diary, short story, poetry or text-free illustration.

Winning entries will be published.

Chrys Mellor, libraries general manager with North Yorkshire County Council, said: "This is a great opportunity.

"Comics offer an alternative route into reading and by taking part in Project Zine, young people will also be learning storytelling skills.

"The zines can be about anything."

The closing date is June 24.

More details and entry forms are available from Skipton Library or the Team Ketchup Facebook page.
