MORE than a thousand staff are being appointed in Keighley and Bradford in readiness for June's General Election.
Local people not yet registered to vote have been advised how to register their names before the deadline next month.
Kersten England, Bradford Council’s chief executive and acting returning officer, said: “Following the confirmation by the House of Commons, our elections team is now gearing up for a General Election on Thursday June 8.
"I'm confident that we'll deliver a fair and robust elections process so the citizens of Bradford District are able to exercise their democratic right to vote.
"We've started the process to identify around 240 polling stations across the district and appoint around 1,200 staff to ensure the 343,690 electors currently registered to vote in a Parliamentary election can cast their vote either in person or by post.
"If anyone normally resident in the Bradford district is not already registered and wishes to do so the quickest way is online at gov.uk/register-to-vote or they can contact Electoral Services on 01274 432287.
"The deadline for registering in time for the General Election is Monday May 22.”
