LIVERSEDGE have no game on the penultimate day of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League season this weekend and manager Jonathan Rimmington is counting down the days until their final fixture.

Sedge's campaign comes to an end with next Saturday's home match against Retford United and Rimmington exclaimed: "Praise the Lord."

After a long and arduous campaign, which saw Sedge topping the Premier Division table in November, the boss is looking forward to the close season with his side in 11th place.

Rimmington said: "Overall it's been a good season but I'm disappointed that we didn't do more. I love this club, I really do, but it's not reaching its full potential, so that means I'm not happy.

"The whole thing we built at the start of the season has gone because of things behind the scenes; things the club's supporters don't see and other clubs don't see.

"We're getting judged on what is seen and that's just not fair. People are saying things about me, my players and our club without knowing the full facts.

"We went to Pickering Town a few weeks ago with 11 players – that's all we had. It's difficult at a club like Liversedge, a club that just doesn't have any backing, and I feel sorry for the club.

"I've been frustrated since Christmas. It shouldn't be about the money but once you've made an offer and promised it, if it's turned off like a tap then you'll lose players."

Rimmington knows the current committee are working hard and without them there would be no club. Yet he knows that a few good men cannot take the club forward and he has urged local businesses and football people to get involved.

But as the summer break approaches, he said: "After a few weeks off, I'll be all right. I's surprising what a little break does and the batteries will soon be recharged.

"Although I usually miss the football as soon as the last game of the season's over, I won't miss it this time."
