NURSE Jane Green is a loser – and she's delighted!

She has shed a whopping nine stones in just over a year.

Jane, who has worked at Airedale Hospital for the past two decades, joined Steeton Slimming World group in January last year.

"My weight was getting out of control," she said.

"Working for the NHS can be very stressful and I turned to food for comfort.

"As a nurse I fully understand the negative impact being overweight can have on a person's health. But through focusing on helping others, I neglected to see how being overweight was taking its toll on my own health.

"I suffer from arthritis, but following my weight loss my symptoms have improved dramatically.

"My life has completely changed.

"My confidence has soared, I have more energy – which I need for my job – and my husband and family are thrilled to see the change in me, not just physically but mentally too.

"I couldn't have done it without the help and support of my Slimming World consultant, who has been amazing."

Consultant Fiona Newhouse, who has awarded Jane the 'greatest loser' title, pays tribute.

"I am so proud of what Jane has achieved," she said.

"She has attended the group religiously every week and is a huge inspiration to everyone.

"When I see how fantastic she looks and feels, I know my job is worthwhile."

Due to increasing numbers, the group is moving to a new venue.

Sessions will take place at Steeton Hall Hotel from April 5.
