LIVERSEDGE Reserves defeated Brighouse Town Reserves in what was a great advert for the Lancashire League.

Danny Meston scored the all-important goal after 17 minutes, being set up after a good run by Alfie Raw.

Town's assistant manager Barry Thomas said: “We just didn’t compete in the first half but in the second period we started a lot better but couldn’t break down the Liversedge defence."

It was the last match for both clubs, and Thackley Reserves completed their campaign with a 3-2 defeat at home to Ossett Town Reserves.

The Thackley team contained a number of first-team squad players but it was Ossett who took the lead before half-time.

Mike Garrod equalised for Thackley in the 70th minute, but two minutes later Ossett were back in front.

With ten minutes left, Andy Howland levelled for Thackley, but in time added-on, Town grabbed the winner.
