PERHAPS inspired by East Bierley's Heavy Woollen Cup tie against Hoylandswaine, which produced 881 runs, batsmen in the Quaid-e-Azam League were filling their boots.

The in-form Mohammad Jamal made 94 for OnQ in the Premier Section, Ismail Dawood weighing in with 63 in their 386-8 against Kashmir Dewsbury.

The latter's skipper, Shahnawaz (53) notched his first half-century of the season, but they only just got halfway there, being dismissed for 198 (Aqib Nawaz 5-70).

Darulshafa and Raja had an exciting encounter, with Raja totalling 221-9 (Farhaan Hussain 51, Taseer Javed 5-54).

Big-hitter Ayyaz Akram was dismissed for 93 for Darulshafa, but had done just enough in their 225-8.

More one-sided was champions Keighley RZM's match against Heaton Park, who conceded 259 runs (Waleed Akhtar 86) before being dismissed for 135.

Bhalot Strikers also had no alarms in makiing it two wins out of two, castling My Lahore for 132 before Qaiser Hameed's 59 not out took Strikers to a nine-wicket victory.

Fawad Maqsood's 58 helped White Rose to a five-wicket triumph over Flix, who were all out for 155.

OnQ didn't have the day's highest score, however, with their 386-8.

That honour belonged to Earlmarshall in Section A, who made 387-4, on the back of 165 by Will Herrington and 138 by Arsalan Mir.

Shoaib Hashmi made a defiant 69 for Shaheen, but they were bowled out for 159, losing by a staggering 227 runs.

If it is thrills that you wanted, there was no better match than Indus Ghari v Azad at the Jinnah Ground, with Ghari making 289-6 (M Tayyab 68) and Azad relpying with 286-8.

Zaman Khan's 77 was in vain for TABS, whose 132 was passed by hosts Punjab at Great Horton Church with six wickets down.

Closer was Diamond's two-wicket victory over Rising Stars, who were dismissed for 114 (Ijaz Ahmed 4-10), and Bradford Moor's three-wicket triumph over Karmand, who made 159.

The runs flowed in Section B as well, with Kashmir Bradford racking up 320 (M Zulfiqar 109) against Central Leeds, who replied with 183 (Shazaib Afsar 58).

Style also made it two wins out of two with a 158-run pummelling of Chach, who could only make 100 (Sajjad Khan 4-37) in reply to 258, Mohammed Siraj falling six short of his first ton.

Batsmen didn't have it all their own way, however, as Murtaza Ali Abbas nabbed a hat-trick for Bradford Royals as Yorkshire Lions failed to roar in being castled for 55.

Newcomers EAM are off the mark after dismissing Kings XI for 81 (Mohammed Shahnawaz 6-30), although the victors lost six wickets in reaching their target.

Green Stars (270) beat Patriots by 110 runs.
