FRIENDSHIP is still going strong for a long-established Keighley group that just doesn’t want to give up.
The Keighley Solo Club has for several decades provided social gatherings for people who were single, divorced, widowed or separated.
The club’s national parent organisation disbanded at the beginning of this year, which meant that the Keighley group would have to close too.
A spokesman said: “The group decided that they didn’t want to just stop and go their separate ways and the Friendship Group was formed.
“It’s going from strength to strength. They have a relaxed membership and everyone is welcome for conversation, laughter, dancing, bingo and occasionally pie and peas suppers.”
The Friendship Group meets at the Solo Club’s long-time venue, Central Hall in Alice Street, Keighley, on Thursday evenings from 7pm to 10pm.
Central Hall, run by Keighley and Ilkley Voluntary and Community Action, provides a base for several local voluntary organisations as well as hosting parties, conferences and functions.
