A NEARLY-new sale will raise money for Keighley boy Ryan Weatherall’s life-changing surgery.

The event on Sunday May 14 at Victoria Hall will support the £40,000 Ryan's Wish to Walk appeal to help the four-year-old Riddlesden boy.

More than £13,000 has already been raised to help cover the cost of an operation and intensive physiotherapy for Ryan's aftercare.

The sale on Sunday, between 1pm and 3pm, will have more than 25 stalls selling baby and children’s clothes, toys, books, equipment, prams and bikes.

Ryan’s mum Carla said: “The event has been really popular with sellers and there'll be lots of stalls available for people to browse through.

“We just need lots of buyers to come along on the day now to make the event a big success.”

All money raised at the event through admissions, refreshments and massage donations will be put towards paying for Ryan’s spinal surgery and post-op physiotherapy.

Ryan’s family have been fundraising since December for the surgery at Leeds Children’s Hospital.

Carla said: Ryan has cerebral palsy. He finds walking difficult, climbing the stairs is harder, but riding a bike and running are impossible.

“Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) has been performed on thousands of children around the world and with amazing results. Children who were told they would never walk are not only walking, they're running, jumping, and riding bikes too.

“These are things that we would love to see Ryan enjoying too. Unfortunately, SDR is not available on the NHS.”

Admission to Sunday’s event is £1 per person, with children admitted free, and all those who attend will have their names put into a draw to win a luxury hamper.

Home-made cakes and drinks will be provided by St Marks Church, Utley.

Holistic Healing Rooms, based in Bingley, and offer relaxing and invigorating head, neck and shoulder massages in return for donations.
