GROUPS in Silsden, Cross Hills and Wilsden have benefited from the latest payout from the Keighley-based Craven Trust.

The charity this month shared £8,482 between 10 organisations in its area, which includes parts of the Yorkshire Dales and Bradford district.

Wilsden Village Nursery School received a contribution toward the replacement of nursery furniture, while the Golden Oldies was given money to buy music books and equipment for singing sessions in Silsden and Cross Hills.

St James’s Church in Silsden received a contribution towards buying a new boiler and heat exchanger.

Bradford Disability Football Club will use their grant to buy footballs, first aid kit and training equipment for sessions in Keighley.

Trust administrator Rowena Garton said: “The trustees were impressed with the calibre of applicants in this round and were particularly impressed with those seeking out further or match-funding."

The Craven Trust that was set up in 1995 to promote and support local charitable and community activity, by giving grants to encourage a sense of local identity.

The £8,482 payout includes money from the Craven Trust’s sister charity, the Beamsley Trust, which operates in the Bolton Abbey area.

The Beamsley Trust was originally an independent charity and came under the auspices of the Craven Trust in 1999.

The catchment area for Craven Trust grants is the old Archdeaconry of Craven, taking in parts of North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, lancashire and Cumbria. Groups from as far afield as Skipton, Grassington, Burton in Lonsdale, Sedbergh, Barnoldswick, Denholm and can apply.
