SPRUCING up their legal skills are Parkside teenagers Kendall Philipson and Chloe Greenwood.

The year 12 students are to attend a three-day course entitled SPRUCE, the Student Pre University Court Exposure course, in Bradford.

The course allows students to look at the framework of the law in England and Wales and observe a Crown Court in action.

Subjects include: criminal law, equality and diversity, the lawyer in business, Crown Prosecution Service, pro-service, pro-bono and the Citizens’ Advice Bureau, civil law and family law.

Majella McColgan, parental involvement officer at Parkside School in Cullingworth, said the students would also get a chance to enter a competition for three days’ work work experience with a solicitor.

She added: “The course is run for students who would like to enter a law-related career. Both girls are interested in the legal sector.”
