AN extraordinary meeting of Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council will be staged to enable it to meet the deadline for approving its 2016/17 accounts.

These were meant to be approved at the council's meeting yesterday evening. (May 15)

But chairman Councillor Gary Swallow warned colleagues that due to a bereavement the accounts were not yet ready.

He said the approval must be done by the beginning of June, so suggested an extraordinary meeting date of May 24.

He added this would require enough councillors to ensure the meeting is quorate, noting that it would only have one item on its agenda.
