SCHOOL pupils in Cullingworth benefited from some expert dance instruction during a class yesterday. (May 16)

Dance artist Caroline Smalley delivered a workshop for students at Parkside School.

Ms Smalley, who teaches at Northern School of Contemporary Dance, organised a session covering contemporary technique and choreography.

Parkside School progress leader Emma Morton said: "By taking part in the workshop, our students had the opportunity to be 'spotted' by Caroline for an audition at the Centre for Advanced Training. (CAT)

"The CAT programme enables students to access highly specialist dance training in their locality, while continuing to live at home.

"This scheme promotes best practice and provides exceptional and innovative tuition to young people.

"The workshop was a fantastic opportunity for our talented students and Caroline thoroughly enjoyed teaching them.

"Out of the 14 students in the workshop, nine of them have been invited to audition for the CAT programme on May 20 and May 27.

"We want to congratulate Jessica Leeming, Niamh Cater, Maisy Green, Jacob Wing, Eve Procter, Megan Bown, Abigail Docherty, Poppy Ginley and Anyah Morgan."
