A TEAM of pupils from a local primary school have shown off their talent for maths by winning a district competition.

The group of seven Sutton Community Primary School children attended the Primary Schools Maths Challenge, which was hosted by South Craven School late last month.

They were taking part in the event along with six other local primary schools.

A spokesman for Sutton CP School explained: "The children had to solve problems, compete in maths relays, build maths puzzle jig-saws and create a tower made out of newspaper.

"Our Sutton CP team managed to score the most points and collected a trophy to display in school.

"Our children involved in the challenge showed fantastic team work, brilliant resilience and competed with superb skill. They were a credit to our school.

"The team from South Craven created a super event and the year six ambassadors were very helpful and excellent role models to the younger children. "We'd like to thank all who were involved in organising the event."
