A NURSE and doctor duo from Wilsden has just returned from trekking the Great Wall of China to help support people with dementia.
Consultant physician Eliz Brierley, who specialises in care of the elderly, joined Bradford Royal Infirmary’s lead nurse for dementia Danni Woods on the adventure of a lifetime and smashed their £3,000 target to make £5,000 to go to the hospital trust’s Forget-Me-Not charity.
The funds will now help buy materials and equipment to make a difference to patients experiencing dementia-related difficulties by helping reduce anxiety and to stimulate them into discussion.
The colleagues pushed themselves to the limit over five days but it was “absolutely amazing” said 41-year-old Mrs Woods.
“It was incredibly challenging but we’d recommend anyone to do it,” she added.
