A SERIES of forums is planned to give carers across the district a voice.

Carers' Resource hopes to hold up to four events a year.

The forums will debate issues affecting carers locally and nationally and consider how the charity's service could be improved.

The first event takes place at the Carers' Resource office in Park View Court, off St Paul’s Road, Shipley, on Wednesday (May 24), 1.30pm to 3pm.

And a session for Craven carers will be held at the Carers' Resource Skipton office, Broughton Hall Business Park, on June 21, 10am to noon.

Chris Whiley, the charity's chief executive, said: "The forums will give carers the chance to come together to discuss issues which affect them and enable them to better understand how the system works and how they can influence decision makers.

"Caring can be overwhelming and all-consuming and for carers it can be difficult to find the time or outlay to speak out and let services know if the support they're receiving is meeting their needs – these forums will give people the chance to do just that.

"They will give us and carers the opportunity to discuss how we can improve to meet people's needs more effectively, as well as talk about any pertinent local or national issues affecting them."
