A BID to revive a gala for Cross Roads and Lees is due to reap the rewards of volunteers' hard work this summer.

A committee chaired by Peter Clarke, who is also a local parish councillor, has been working on bringing the event back to this village after an absence of five years.

A spokesman for the committee said people can look now look forward to an entertaining return of the once popular celebration.

She added: "On Saturday July 8 at 1pm a parade will start off the event. It will go through the village and finish at Lees Primary School where we will have community and charity stalls, a beer tent, a barbecue and much more.

"Stalls have already been confirmed from the Men of Worth military history group, 1st Cross Roads Brownies and Friends of Cross Roads Park.

"We hope the gala will again provide village fun for all. Anyone wanting a stall should please contact us on Facebook via our page, Lees Cum Cross Roads Village Gala, or they can e-mail sarahvkaye@live.co.uk before June 12."
