THE partner of a Keighley town centre law firm has spoken of her frustration after the business was disrupted by what she described as an attempted break-in.

Jane Campbell, partner at Makin Dixon Solicitors, which is based in Cavendish Street, said the business has had to buy a replacement front door after it was targeted some time between 6pm last Friday evening (May 19) and mid morning last Saturday. (May 20)

"They kicked in the glass of our front door, which is very thick glass so it would have taken a lot of effort," she said.

"Bits of glass were sprayed about four metres into our reception area, which just showed the amount of force that must have been used.

"It's the second time we've been targeted in about 18 months. The first time they smashed two large windows on one side of our building.

"On this occasion they did break through the glass, but couldn't get past the door so weren't able to get inside the offices. But they still caused quite a bit of damage.

"We had to board up the front door, so people would have been thinking we were closed.

"We are a legal aid firm and we help a lot of vulnerable families, which includes young children. We do community-based work and represent victims of domestic violence.

"Our offices are in a very prominent location in Keighley, and we could do without this sort of thing happening when we're trying to help people. It is very annoying."

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said officers were investigating a case of criminal damage at the firm's offices.
