A LONG-established Townswomen’s Guild has folded.
Membership of the Thwaites Brow group had dwindled to just 11.
At its height, the guild – formed over half a century ago – had four sections and more than 50 members.
“It is sad to close but it has been difficult to keep things going,” said Jean Hartley, for the group.
“The closure will leave a big gap in our lives but we have already met-up as friends and hope to continue meeting monthly on that basis.
“Also, some of us have joined as associate members of the National Union of Townswomen’s Guilds.”
