THE EASTBURN postmistress has been co-opted to Steeton-with-Eastburn Parish Council.

Pauline Gill, who has lived in the village for many years and served in Christmas lights group, was last month (May) voted on by existing councillors.

Councillors at the meeting were told the 60 small trees had been planted at the Chapel Road recreation ground by the chairman and other volunteers.

Bradford Environmental Action Trust will help with replacing vandalised trees along Cartmel Lane.

A parish councillor reported that the footpath running between Parkway and Clough Avenue, Steeton, needs attention, including the cutting back of a hedge.

Cllr David West said he would talk to the Steeton Post Office about painting the postbox near the bottom of Chapel Road. Councillors said several other postboxes in Steeton and Eastburn needed attention.

A police community support officer attending the council meeting reported a recent problem with thefts from motor vehicles in the parish.
