A LOCAL school's summer fair this month has received a boost thanks to a donation from the Keighley News' merchandising department.

Emily Reed, a year five pupil at Steeton Primary, contacted the Keighley News to ask if the paper could donate some raffle and tombola prizes for the fair, which takes place on June 17.

The paper responded with a donation of 11 copies of "Yorkshire Landscapes – A Photographic Journey", which is published by the Keighley News' parent company, Newsquest Yorkshire and North East.

The books were delivered to Steeton Primary last Thursday. (May 25)

Head teacher Kevin Wheeler said they would support the raffles and tombola due to be held at the fair later this month.

The event will take place in the school grounds and also in Steeton Recreation Ground.

Staff and members of the Friends of Steeton Primary will man a variety of stalls and games from 10am to 2pm, including a teddy bear abseil, roll a penny, "play your cards right", "splat the rat", hook a duck and a rugby themed obstacle course.

Children from years five and six will be carrying out enterprise activities. Admission is free and the fair will be open to the public, with proceeds going back to the school.
