ON A DAY which saw a number of upsets in the second round of the Wynn Cup, one of the biggest surprises was the failure of Division One leaders Ingrow St John’s to overcome Division Three Gargrave’s total of 83.

Openers Lee Barrett (22) and Will Smith (19) put on 46 for the Skipton Road hosts but Saints looked to be in control when Sajjad Razaq (4-18) saw them restricted to a meagre total.

The Keighley side struggled in reply but even at 74-7 it looked as though they might nick the tie. However, they lost their last three wickets for just two runs to lose by seven. Humayun Shazhad top scored with 35 as Stuart Weatherill (6-32) and Smith (4-42) bowled through.

Division Two Foulridge inflicted the second defeat of the weekend on Crossflatts at Noyna. Mohammad Yaqoob scored 100 and Umar Farooq 66 as the hosts plundered 282, with youngster Jodi Town-Jones taking 4-36.

Flatts replied with 199-8 with Freddie Maddocks (53) and Jim O’Hara (43no) being the main contributors as Muhammad Attique took 4-57.

Sutton must have left Denholme shell-shocked as they went down by seven wickets. The Royd Hill side made 188-7 with Sam Solley (69) and Chris Williams (31) leading the way.

Toby Priestley hit 98no from just 53 balls, which included 18 fours and two sixes, to leave the visitors stunned as Denholme romped home in the 29th over. Matt Wear (36) and Adam Taylor (36) joined in the carnage.

The top-tier clash between Oakworth and Hepworth & Idle went the way of hosts Oaks by five wickets. The visitors posted 207-7 with Glenn Pinkney (59) and Dave Matthews (50) being the main run-getters.

Ben Howell hit a magnificent 77-ball 115no to see the Cure Hill side home in the 33rd over.

Chris Langley (61) and Raza Ali (58) set up Wilsden’s 251-6 at Park Field. Glusburn were always on the back foot despite James Tillotson (47) and Steve Brown (38) putting on 61 for the second wicket. Antipodean Doug Richardson (4-25) wrapped up the tail as the innings closed on 184.

Haworth Road encountered few problems as they saw off Division Two Airedale by six wickets. The Bradford Road side made 153-5 with Mick Feather (39no) and Matthew Cox (34) being the top scorers. The Baildon Bottom outfit took 38.5 overs reaching their target, led by Paul Rodwell (60no) and Mansha Khan (35).

There was a run feast at Barrowford, who rattled up 305-9 against Bingley Congs. An opening partnership of 251 by Ashir Imdad (143) and Naveed Ashraf (112) paved the way for a big total. Harry Greenhalgh (4-40) was Congs' best bowler.

Danny Pearson (63) and Sam Porter (46) led the Beckfoot side to a respectable 235 despite 5-51 from Imdad.

Sandy Lane conceded their game with Ingrow.

Third round draw (matches due to be played on June 25): Oakworth v Denholme, Wilsden v Gargrave, Haworth Road v Foulridge, Ingrow v Barrowford.
