VISITORS Jer Lane were on the wrong end of an upset in the second round of the Spenser Wilson Halifax League's Parish Cup.

Hosts Mytholmroyd made a formidable 354-7 in the all-Premier Division tie, with the highlight being a fifth-wicket stand of 223 between Thomas Conway (121) and Luke Sutcliffe (100).

Jer Lane never looked like getting anywhere near the total required, with their innings fizzling out 135 runs short.

If it was runs that you wanted, Outlane was the place as 686 were scored in the all-Second Division tie against Low Moor Holy Trinity.

The trouble was that Outlane scored 426-7, chiefly via James Mitton (137), Calum Westwood (89) and Alex Blagborough (65).

The visitors put up a brave chase as Muhammad Ramzam hit 79 but the target was far too much.

Thornton were handed a walkover into the last eight by Old Town, while holders Booth also got a free passage to the third round when Birchencliffe withdrew four days before their scheduled tie.

Despite ten of Bridgeholme’s batsmen reaching double figures at Eastwood, they failed to reach the target of 293 set by Premier Division visitors Northowram Hedge Top and lost by 27 runs.

The bowling of Jack Hemblys (9-0-39-6) proved the difference.

Triangle triumphed on their first visit to Mount, but the lower-division team put up a brave performance, making 239.

However, Triangle were more than equal to to the task as middle-order batsman Jack Gledhill (77no) steered them through.

Illingworth St Mary’s' fine start to the season hit the buffers when Southowram arrived at The Ainleys.

Perhaps the result didn’t fall into the shock category but the scoreline certainly did as the hosts were rolled over for only 67, with Tom Belfield the pick of the bowlers with 4-24.

The visitors knocked the runs off for the loss of two wickets in less than 17 overs.

Copley’s short trip to Sowerby St Peter’s brought a win by four wickets.
