A CHINESE brush-painting workshop is being staged in Silsden.
The session takes place at Been Busy, from 10am to noon on July 5.
Leading the workshop is retired headteacher Chris Newson, whose work will also be displayed in the window of the premises – The Office, 25 Kirkgate – that week.
Mrs Newson learned the painting skill from members of the Chinese Brush Painters' Society Yorkshire Group.
She uses traditional Chinese brushes, grinds her own ink from pine soot sticks and paints on a range of papers and other materials.
Her subject matter varies from trees and mountains to ladies.
She stages numerous demonstrations and classes, and shows her work in solo and group exhibitions.
Items are sold through craft fairs and shops.
Been Busy is also hosting a photography course, led by Ilkley photographer Alyson Hallam.
Sessions are for beginners using a digital SLR camera and will cover landscape, portrait, still life and wildlife.
