A RING donated by a Keighley jeweller has raised £700 in a charity auction.

Liam McQuaid, of Raffles in the Airedale Shopping Centre, gave the 18-carat gold trilogy ring – with three marquise diamonds – to be sold at the annual Martin House Children's Hospice glitter ball.

The event, at Rudding Park Hotel, Harrogate, coined-in over £85,000.

Mr McQuaid and his wife Anna are community ambassadors at the Boston Spa hospice.

They began raising money for the cause after their son, Niall, died at Martin House, aged just seven weeks, in 2006.

The total raised so far has now topped £32,000.

"I'm delighted with that figure," said Mr McQuaid.

"When we started fundraising, I never imagined we would reach that sort of amount.

"We will keep doing whatever we can to raise money and support what is an incredible cause."
