MANORLANDS is gearing-up for its annual garden party.

The event, now in its 41st year, takes place in the grounds of the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice on Sunday, July 9.

The extravaganza, which last year raised nearly £11,000, will once again have a 1940s theme.

Haworth Home Guard will be there to add authenticity.

And a wide range of family attractions is lined up.

There will be ever-popular book, cake, plant, home produce, bric-a-brac and craft stalls, tombolas and raffles.

Children's games will be provided and live entertainment will take place throughout the afternoon.

The event, which will run from 1.30pm to 4.30pm, is being sponsored by Keighley-based Clever Energy Boilers and Regal Interiors, of Cross Hills.

Paul Calvert – for Clever Energy Boilers, which also provided sponsorship last year – said: "We are really proud to sponsor the event for a second year.

"Manorlands and Sue Ryder do fantastic work and we're pleased to be able to help this important local cause."

Adrian Frost, director of Regal Interiors, said the firm was delighted to be backing the hospice.

The company is also donating proceeds from its 20th-anniversary celebratory weekend, on July 1 and 2, to Manorlands.

"We're very much looking forward to being present at the garden party and helping this wonderful cause raise funds," said Mr Frost.

Event organisers are appealing to the public for donations of items – such as new goods, bric-a-brac, plants and cakes – to sell, as well as raffle and tombola prizes.

Goods should be dropped off at the hospice before the day.

Manorlands senior fundraiser, Hayley Ibbotson, said: "Every penny spent at the garden party goes directly to fund the continued care provided at the hospice.

"For this to continue, we rely on the goodwill of the community to help us by providing items for the stalls and also by coming along on the day.

"It's an ideal chance to have a clear out at home, or for people to use their craft skills for a worthy local cause, and we're so grateful to anyone who can donate items.

"It's a great day, when we are pleased to be able to invite the local community to enjoy the grounds each year and have the opportunity to learn more about the hospice.

"I hope to see both familiar and new faces enjoying the garden party."
